Project Plex: Why We’re Donating 10% of our Profits

There’s an old proverb that goes “A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in.”

I’m not quite an old man, but I follow the same principle. I don’t litter, I enjoy teaching others, and I do like planting trees. I try to make every community, organization, and environment better in any way that I can. When I started Plex Creative, I knew I wanted to do the same.

A business is not operated in a vacuum. Like a person, a business is a part of a community of other businesses and people just trying to succeed. Every action, every decision, even every tweet affects the surrounding community. I believe you must put good into the world in order to get good out of it. Why shouldn’t a marketing agency operate in a similar way?

That’s why I decided to start Project Plex. Project Plex is the philanthropic arm of Plex Creative, in which we donate 10% of our profits toward the advancement of educational, artistic, and creative endeavors. I aim to expand on this even further in the coming years, introducing more ways to give back to the community.

Plex Creative was founded on embracing the power of creativity and imagination. A lofty explanation for sure, but I knew exactly what I meant. What do I mean, exactly? Every single one of us has a creative aspect to our minds. Each one of us has the ability to imagine new worlds, hatch new ideas, and design new spaces to articulate our passions in the world. This is what makes us human. I, personally, want to keep this alive as long as possible.

Imagine a world without creativity. No, really. Close your eyes and imagine it, I’ll wait. Done? I doubt it’s a pretty picture, and I certainly don’t want to see for myself. Creativity, imagination, education, and artistry are the backbones of our society. We need them in our daily lives.

By donating 10% of our profits, we’re giving back to our community — your community, as well. Through Project Plex, we’re helping to make sure every single person is able express themselves, accomplish their goals, and put more good into the world. And we’re celebrating our own humanity in the process.
